Joe has served as visual effects supervisor, producer, production engineering supervisor and production software supervisor on 13 of the top 100 highest grossing movies of all time. With extensive creative, technical and management experience he has designed and produced extensive visual effects sequences, directed stage shoots, edited complex scenes, built miniatures and written software for some of the most complex visual effects. His wide range of experience has helped him develop a keen understanding of the film production process.

As Producer and VFX Supervisor for the feature film division, Joe’s responsibilities for creative and production operations for the world class film and VFX production facility include production bidding and breakdowns, strategic vision and production execution serving production projects for the most notable client base in feature films, television and commercials. Responsibilities include producing main title sequences, visual effects, character animation, opening prologue stories and key visual design components employed to empower directors in telling their stories. Projects include visual effects and opening sequences for feature films including : Twilight, Noah, Total Recall and Jack the Giant Killer.

From 2001 to 2004, serving as Visual Effects Supervisor for The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, Joe was responsible for visual development, creative content and production management for the Siege; 262 shots encompassing a series of battle sequences that show man against machine in total war. A highly detailed and complex body of work, it was in development beginning Fall 2001 and was released May 2003 for The Matrix Reloaded and November 2003 for The Matrix Revolutions. The effects were produced with ESC Entertainment in conjunction with Warner Bros. Studios and Eon Productions.

Joe served as Director of Production Engineering for Industrial Light + Magic where he was responsible for managing the digital engineering groups which developed all digital systems, network and infrastructure for film and commercial productions.  As Director, Joe was responsibile for developing the digital infrastructure for production of CG for film and commercials. Joe’s team also developed the high availability rendering and fileserver subsystems, which kept production functioning on a 24 hour basis during Star Wars and 11 other major feature effects projects during 1999. During his tenure at ILM, Joe was responsible for the online rebranding effort to establish ilm.com as a marketing destination site for production companies.

During 1997, Joe managed the Production Software and Systems departments at Digital Domain during production of Titanic and The Fifth Element. In addition to management duties he continued to develop a technical and creative eye for production with contributions on several feature and commercial projects developing software and visual elements.
